PBSKids.org - Play Online Games With Popular TV Characters

One of the most popular activities for toddlers who've been exposed to the Internet at an early age is the collection of PBS Kids online games over at PBSKids.org. There, kids will find games, music and coloring pages centered upon their favorite characters from popular PBS shows.

Over the years, PBS has built a reputation for being a leader in children's programming. Parents of babies and toddlers turn to PBS for both cable TV and Internet programming that is educational and inspires learning and development. The games provided at PBS Kids online are no exception. Unlike most other game websites that target children, with PBS Kids online games you can feel confident that the content and the activities are both age appropriate and safe.

The following three online game pages are currently the most popular ones on the PBS website.

Teletubbyland
There are a lot of people who may never contemplate letting an infant, or even a very young toddler, use a computer. However, the computer can be a very effective tool in helping a young brain grow and develop. To that end, the ever-popular Teletubbies offers both TV and computer game programming designed specifically to spark cognitive development in young minds, including infants. Teletubbies was created by Anne Wood and Andrew Davenport in 1997 after they conducted research and interviews with nursery school teachers and other experts in early childhood development. The result was a concept where imagery, sounds and even body language is used to convey important information to the infant and to hold their attention. This is why so many babies and toddlers around the world are transfixed by these strange little creatures known as the Teletubbies.

The online version of Teletubbyland presents children with a graphical representation of game choice. For example, if the child clicks on one of the microphones, they are transported to the "Nursery Rhymes" game, where they can click on each microphone and hear a song. If the child clicks on the lion in the distance, they are brought to the very popular "Animal Parade" game.

In Animal Parade, the toddler must choose which shape matches the shape of the animal that's displayed on the screen. It's easy to see how such a simple game can help a young mind develop the important cognitive ability to match patterns and solve simple puzzles. This area of the PBS site is filled with about a dozen games similar to these examples.

Sesame Street
For slightly older toddlers, the enduring children's TV show Sesame Street also makes a big splash online with its PBS Kids web page. On the Sesame Street section, children can choose between playing games, watching online videos, printing coloring projects and other printables, or sending e-cards. The popular games section includes games that include the most popular characters from the show, such as Elmo, Big Bird, and the Cookie Monster!

In the games section, there are over fifteen games and they are all tailored specifically toward younger children in preschool or kindergarten. Each game teaches something important such as colors, patterns and much more. Kids just love to choose one of Elmo's books that they can color and decorate!

In this Elmo Sesame Street game, each stage of coloring leads to an animated video and then another stage of the story where there's more coloring. The young child will not only color with an application that doesn't let them "mess up" outside of the lines, but it also sparks their imagination and creativity with a story.

Clifford
Another very popular area of PBS Kids is also one of the more popular shows on PBS television - Clifford the Big Red Dog. Many children have fallen in love with Clifford, and young children love playing the online games found at the Clifford section of the website.

The games here include creating a float for the Big Parade, a matching game called "Match T-Bone's Balloon" and of course the very fun "Clifford's Scavenger Hunt" where children can help Clifford, Cleo and T-Bone find objects in various scenes.

PBSKids.org offers all of these games and many others as a free source of learning and fun for young children who are first getting accustomed to using the computer. The games are simple to use and easy to follow, which is why so many children across the world love to spend their online time at PSBKids.org.

PSBKids.org is an enriching and entertaining website for small children, including coloring pages, games, videos and music. The website is filled with content from the dozens of PBS shows that children love including Barney, Angelina Ballerina, Caillou, Dragon Tales, Curious George and so much more. With so many choices, you can rest assured that your child will be intellectually stimulated while they're having fun.

i am a mother of a 3 year old boy, and he absolutely loves these games. he thinks he is just playing games on the computer and has no idea he is learning in the mean time. i have recommended this site to others who have young children and will continue to do so, thank you so much for offering small children a chance to use a computer like "the big kids" but learn at the same time.
