Cyberstart - Freeware For The Very Young

Cyberstart by Larry Loveland is a great way to teach toddlers how to use a mouse, some basic shapes etc. This freeware program does not use the keyboard at all, and you do not need to be able to click the mouse to use it. You simply move the cursor over the screen, matching up colors and shapes.

There are no instructions, but it is easy enough to figure out how to progress through the exercises by moving the cursor over the objects in the right order.

This program is appropriate for toddlers as young as 18 months.

Our kids like this game and seeing how it gets harder. I like that they learn how to use a mouse, develop fine motor skills, and that it interests them but not too much so I can end computer time without too much drama. Toddler to age 6 or so. Good freeware.

I can answer the question on sound - unfortunately no there is no sound. I have used this program for years for babies to seniors and it appeals to all age groups. Besides being useful for young children, it is also useful for adults/Seniors that have no computer experience. It is a great way for them to learn mouse control without the worry of clicking on the wrong object because there is no clicking. It helps them to learn to relax the mouse hand while learning the proper way to move the mouse.

I work in a special ed. school and this seems to be a perfect program for some of our students. I was just wondering if there is any sound on the program. Thank you!

Excellent Program!! Thank you! It's small, easy to install, fun, educational, and the price is right FREE. It is one of the very best programs for this age group (which can be hard to find). Startup tip for grownups: Toddlers don't feel the need to "stay within the lines" ; If you want to start it for them you have to move the cursor around the outside edge of the screen first ;)
