The interface if this program is a bit better than Atlas of World History, since it feels easier to work with and gives the option to zoom in and out during the timeline animation.
This freeware version is a subset of the full Cetennia, which covers history of Europe and the Middle East from the beginning of the 11th century to the present.
Centennia is available for Windows and Macintosh computers. The price of a single copy is $89.
